Hello Meta-p lovelies,

I'm sure you all have been getting Wildflower Nate's e-mails about his Intergalactic Space Alien Party that hits intergalactic overdrive this Saturday in Mosier. The following day will be a restoration work party for the site to prepare the land for the winter season. I invite you to come out for one or both of these events and reunite as the original crew.

There' s plenty to be done out there, and based on the amount of help we get on Sunday, we might be able to make considerable progress to assure that the roads are repaired, runoff contained, invasive plants pulled and native seeds spread.

Also, if you know a few DJ's or live acts who would be excited about putting some music in the air from the original Back 40 stage--the cabin deck-- I know that Nate would be excited about securing a bigger list of musical talent for his space party! Ths is, of course, the easiest place to receive contact from our brothers and sisters of yonder galexies, so let's call out nice and proper.

Call him with any questions at 541-490-7094.

Also, let's rideshare as much as possible. If you have or need a ride, reply to all and hopefully we'll take care of everyone. And as for food, bring a cooler if you need your food chilled. there will be BBQ space for you to cook on as well as the cabin kitchen stove.

You all know how deeply commited to the land I have been and I would love to have your help as I dedicate myself to honoring the land and the community there who we all got to know intimately and wholeheartedly.

Love,
Matt

The Port of Olympia is offering plots of 1000 – 2500 square foot land for community sponsored gardens. Currently they are offering sixteen spots and will probably be offering about ten more, total. The Port will cover initial soil requirements and all irrigation needs, although a lesser water requirement is better. Sponsors agree to design, implement and maintain the agreed to plot for a minimum of three years. The application deadline for this initial round of 16 plots is October 30. Some of the initial sixteen plots do not become available until 2007, while some are available now.

I think this is an excellent opportunity for Olympia artists of all stripes and creeds to cooperatively create a public Art space. The Port’s restrictions are liberal and sensible (no invasive species, existent fauna remains and final designs must be Port approved) and this would provide local artists with greater public exposure and interactivity. I attended the Port’s first public meeting last night and tentatively signed up an as yet to exist group “Olyart Project” as having interest in a particular plot. If you too are interested, please contact me as soon as possible so as we may begin conversing and planning some more OlyArt space.
CultureSeed is a newly forming non-profit organization dedicated to the evolution of creative culture. We work to support artists in the production of unique and engaging cultural events including parades, festivals. street theater and performance art, environmental installations, interactive sculpture, and musical/dance performance.

Central themes address issues of identity, spirituality, and sustainability. Our work is dedicated to repairing the physical and emotional damage that has been inflicted upon our planet gaia.

We operate multi-media studios that build community through the creation of public art. We offer workshops and instruction that culminate in large-scale group efforts, often becoming the central element in a live performance.

We offer residencies for emerging artists who need time and space to develop significant work. Room, board, and studio access are provided in equal exchange for a willingness to share and collaborate with youth and other artists.

Our youth program facilitates high-school students access to tools, materials, and instruction. Young adults are encouraged to collaborate as well as find their expressive individuality while addressing the hopes and concerns of their peers.

CultureSeed provides grants and support for artists doing exceptionally meaningful work in areas of cultural significance. We are specifically interested in artists who are CREATING NEW CULTURE.

CultureSeed is funded primarily by individual donations. To support the evolution of creative culture, consider donating to CultureSeed by attending an upcoming event! (We will also take donations online soon)
